Posted

The Warsaw Salutes You Military Banners recognition program is accepting applications for the sixth cycle of banners, which will go on display in November for Veterans Day.
Since the program’s inauguration in 2020, over 100 United States military honorees have been recognized with banners displayed on East Market Street in Warsaw, according to a provided news release.
These honorees have included veterans and active duty men and women from all of the branches of the military, eras, conflicts and varying ranks of service. The banner program recognizes every military duty is a sacrifice, and the program is grateful for the men and women who have served and continue to choose to serve our country in this capacity. The banner program recognizes this as a great opportunity to build and strengthen community and spirit of patriotism, stated the release.
The Warsaw Salutes You Banner Recognition Program began as Elizabeth Stone’s Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy project in 2020 during her junior year at Warsaw Community High School as a way to honor her brother, U.S. Navy Lt. Nate Stone, who was serving on the USS California. Elizabeth is currently attending college and Miechi Petro and Megan Stone are continuing the program in her absence.
Applications can be accepted until deadline of Oct. 13 and the first 20 qualified honorees will be displayed. The cost per banner is $65 and banners will be returned to the applicant the following year when they are removed. Further details, policy and guidelines are outlined in the application. Applications can be obtained by contacting Megan Stone at warsawsalutesyou@gmail.com.
