Milford Public Library Offers Activites

Posted
MILFORD - April 15-21 is National Library Week.

This year's theme is "Come together @ your library." Come in to see what is happening at the Milford Public Library during National Library Week.

The Milford Public Library now has a copy of the 2035 Transportation Plan & Air Quality Conformity Plan as well as the FY2008-2012 Transportation Improvement Program. This is provided by the Michiana Area Council of Governments, South Bend. For more details, visit the Web site www.macog.com

April is "Food for Fines" month at the Milford Public Library. For each $1 in fines a patron has, they may bring in a food item to be donated to the local food pantry. The fine will then be taken off their account. Here are a few things that the food bank needs: breakfast foods: cereal, cereal bars; canned fruits, meats, soups; box dinners; toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo. If a patron wants to pay their fines and contribute to the food bank, the library will negotiate their fine appropriately. If the patron wants to bring a receipt for the items they purchased, the library will take that amount off the fine. Otherwise, the library will take off $1 per item donated.

There will be a meeting for anyone interested in planning the library's 100th birthday tonight at 5 p.m. in the meeting room.

Anyone in middle school, high school or attending college will want to register for the "7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens" workshop. It will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. This workshop can help teens gain greater control of their lives; improve relationships with family and friends; increase self confidence and self-esteem; make smarter decisions; define their values and what matters most to them; recognize and prioritize their goals; and find balance between school, work, friends and everything else. There is only room for 18 teens. Call 574-658-4312 to register today. This workshop is being sponsored by a Dekko Foundation grant.

This week's dial-a-story at the Milford Public Library will change Wednesday to "The Honest Lumberjack." Call 574-658-9540 to hear the story.
