Milford Man Held After December Strangling IncidentA Milford man was arrested in December after allegedly strangling a child and threatening to kill him.

Antonio Roberto Alvizo, 33, of 206 N. James St., Milford, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 18 for a preliminary charge of domestic battery, with an initial bond set at $1,000. He has since been released on his own recognizance.

Court documents filed Monday list the charges against him as domestic battery to a person less than 14 years of age by a person at least 18 years of age, a level 6 felony; strangulation, a level 6 felony; and two counts of intimidation, level 6 felonies.

On Dec. 18, Milford Police Department officer Scott Anderson responded to a report of an intoxicated person at 206 N. James St. A woman told him she and her boyfriend – Alvizo – were in a verbal altercation and he started throwing items in the kitchen. Alvizo threatened to kill her and a child in the residence. Alvizo picked the child up by the neck and choked him. The woman had to pry Alvizo’s hands off of the child’s neck, according to court documents.

Court records redacted the woman and child’s relationship.

The child told Anderson that Alvizo grabbed him by the neck and squeezed to the point where he could not breathe. He also said Alvizo threatened to kill him.

Alvizo admitted to Anderson that he had a verbal altercation with the woman.

His initial hearing is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Feb. 7.

A no contact order was entered Monday.
