Milford Increases Downtown Parking Hours

Posted
MILFORD – Town council passed a downtown parking change Monday, increasing allowed hours by two.
The new parking hours, previously restricted from 2 a.m to 6 p.m., are now restricted only from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. The increase in hours was requested by downtown bar owners at last month’s meeting, who said the old hours hurt their business on busy nights.
Town police and street departments assented to the new hours and officers are prepared to enforce them.
Also Monday, council approved several requests from the Lions Club to prepare for Milford Fest, May 22 to 25. They approved street closures for event features including carnival rides and a car show; agreed to split the cost of portable restrooms at $307.50; will allow service clubs to use the community building free of charge during the festival; and suspended the yearly limit on the number of garage sales residents may have to allow for the town-wide sale during the fest.
Utilities Superintendent Randy Veach said he expects about 200 participants in the parade on Memorial Day, and suggested to council that the town sponsor a float contest for next year’s parade.
And council approved up to $2,250 for a new laptop to replace a broken computer in one of the police cruisers. Marshal Rich Miotto said the cost is higher than the $500, five-year-old laptop because the new one will be more durable and include features requested by officers.
