MILFORD - No one from the public was present at the public hearing held Monday by the Milford Town Council regarding  additional appropriations to pay for a new fire engine for the town.
The council met in special session to hold this hearing.
Clerk-Treasurer Tricia Gall said a notice went out to taxpayers proposing the town take $485,200 from cumulative capital improvements tax levy and $50,000 from cumulative capital development to apply to the purchase of a new fire engine.
Several members from the fire department were present.
With no comments from the public, the hearing was closed and the council approved ordinance 2024-7 for the additional appropriations. Council President Doug Ruch abstained as he is on the fire department.
The council then approved the purchase of a fire engine from HME through Sourcewell at a cost of $610,291 and they’ll be able to pick it up on April 23 as it is a stock unit and ready to go, according to a member of the fire department. Ruch also abstained on this vote.
Additionally, the council passed interlocal resolution 2024-7 regarding Van Buren Township contributing $750 towards maintenance and equipment at Waubee Lake Park on Camp Mack Road.
