Mildred V. Kessler, 100, of Lakes Estates, Warsaw, died at 9:30 p.m. June 23, 2007, at Hickory Creek of Rochester.
She was born May 26, 1907, in Jay County, to Thomas and Anna Wiggs Corle. On June 15, 1930, in Covington, Ky., she married Glen Kessler, who died June 19, 1977.
While living in Jay County, she worked at Jay Garment Co. and Berne Overall, and was a homemaker. In 1961, she moved to Lebanon, Ohio, where she worked at Otterbein Home. Moving to Kosciusko County in 1973, she volunteered for Kosciusko Community Hospital for 18 years. She attended North Webster United Methodist Church, North Winona Church of the Brethren, Warsaw, and Celebration Church, Winona Lake.
Surviving are a son, Stan (and wife Janet) Kessler, Fort Wayne; two daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Mary Jane) Bendt, Knox, and Becky Ertel, Rochester; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Hascal Corle, Berne; and a sister, Deta Gillespie, Middletown. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Marie Kessler; one sister; and six brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home, corner of High and Commerce streets, Portland, with Pastor Mike Beezley officiating, assisted by Pastor Cindy Gackenheimer. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Bryant.
Calling is from noon until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
