SYRACUSE – Mildred Mikel, 96, of Syracuse, passed away on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Paddock Springs in Warsaw.

She was born on Dec. 2, 1924, in Kosciusko County, to Harvey and Hazel Stackhouse Moore. On March 22, 1947, she married Stanley Mikel, who preceded her in 2003.

She loved helping her husband on the farm during her younger years. She had a passion for gardening and taking care of her house plants. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a longtime member or the Ligonier Evangelical Church.

She is survived by her two daughters:?Carol (Floyd) Murphy, of Syracuse; and Donna (Doug) Kunce, of Cromwell; two sons: Russ (Pat) Mikel, of Syracuse; and Brian (Misty) Mikel, of New Paris; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband, she was preceded by her parents; one brother, two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. in the Ligonier Evangelical Church in Ligonier. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.

Due to the current COVID situation, the funeral home as well as the church will require face masks to be worn and that social distancing be observed.
