Mildred M. Day Haldewang, 89, died June 15, 2011, in her residence.
She was born April 1922, in Minneapolis, Minn. In March 1942, she married William a. Haldewang, who survives.
She and her husband lived in Illinois raising their children. She was an extraordinary homemaker, Scout leader and Sunday school teacher. In 1964, they moved to Warsaw. Together in 1967, they founded Indiana Coated Fabric, a local manufacturing company. The company grew under her watchful eye. After retirement, she had her beloved husband of 69 years spent time traveling the world and dividing their time between Vero Beach, Fla., and Warsaw. Her philanthropy benefited both communities in numerous ways.
Also surviving are her children: Anne (and spouse Lee) Wall, Leesburg, Va.; Sally Haldewang, Kodiak, Alaska; William J. (and spouse Carol) Haldewang, Syracuse; and Joan (and spouse Jerry) Lichtfuss, Evanston, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
At her request, there will not be a calling or services.
McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
