CROMWELL - Mildred Harriet Gard, 97, North Webster, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness at 10:42 p.m. Dec. 6, 2010, in Bradenton, Fla.
She was born Dec. 29, 1912, in Wawaka, to Frank and Veda Fay Franks. On June 15, 1935, in Wawaka, she married Delbert D. Gard, who preceded her in death in April 1979.
A lifetime area resident, she was a dedicated homemaker and worked on the farm. She was a member of Cromwell United Methodist Church and Gideon International Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Fay (and spouse Arthur) Iden, North Webster; five grandchildren: Jeff Iden, North Webster; Kathy (and spouse Larry) Wilder, Brenda Parr, all of Indianapolis, Susan Mangold, Bowling Green, Ky.; Steve Gard, Sadieville, Ky; six great-grandchildren: Josh (and spouse Rachel) Iden, Indianapolis; Krystal Wilder, Kari Wilder, Samantha Mangold, Stephanie Mangold, Sydney Mangold; three siblings: Tom Franks, Wawaka; Mary (and spouse Howard) Berkes, New Bremen, Ohio; Ann (and spouse Don) Connors, South Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jimmie (and spouse Nancy) Gard; and three sisters, Thora (and spouse Elwood) Cotner, Coy (and spouse Lester) Keefer and Jane (and spouse Steve) Clark.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cromwell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Chris Dare officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Yeager Funeral Home, Ligonier.
