NORTH MANCHESTER - Mike Mindala, 88, of North Manchester, died at 2:45 a.m. June 16, 2008, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
He was born April 16, 1920, in East Chicago, to Anthony and Anna Fetal Mindala. On Nov. 27, 1948, he married Bernice L. Lambert, who survives.
He was a tool & die machinist at Manchester Tool & Die for 16 years, retiring in 1982. He graduated from Linlawn High School, Wabash, in 1940, and attended Manchester College for 1-1/2 years. He was a life member of American Legion Post 286 and Moose Lodge, both in North Manchester, and a member of Deming Lodge 88 F&AM, North Manchester, and Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine Club, both in Fort Wayne. He was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran.
Also surviving are a son, Thomas W. (and spouse Jennifer) Mindala, Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Anna M. (and spouse Joe) DuRussel, Reese, Mich.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
