AKRON - Midge Ramsey, 68, of 3675 S. CR 800E, Akron, died at 8:30 p.m. March 31, 2009, in her residence.
She was born Nov. 3, 1940, in Altha, Fla., to Bryan and Olivia Goody Jernigan. On Feb. 24, 1958, in Akron, she was married to John W. Ramsey Sr., by the Rev. Harold Conrad of Akron Church of God. John survives.
Living most of her life in Akron, she was secretary and co-owner with her husband of O&R Buildings, Akron, since 1965. She enjoyed taking pictures and was a former member of Manitou Camera Club. Some of her favorite things were flowers and hummingbirds. She enjoyed crocheting, feeding the birds and genealogy.
Also surviving are a daughter, Deborah Ramsey, Akron; three sons, John W. Jr. (and spouse Penny) Ramsey and Mark (and spouse Nancy) Ramsey, all of Akron, and Verlin Sr. (and spouse Beverly) Ramsey, Rochester; seven grandchildren: Angela (and spouse Ryan) Parson, Shawna (and spouse Nick) Stutzman and Kent, Verlin Jr., Daniel, Adam and Tabatha Ramsey; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael (and spouse Cindy) Jernigan, Rochester; and two sisters, Patricia (and spouse Morse) Utter, Athens, and Shirley Allred, Shipshewana. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Barbara Geller; and two brothers, Robert and Joe Jernigan.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, with the Rev. Phillip Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.
