Combining the Lakeview and Edgewood middle schools' bands and choirs, about 400 students will honor veterans Thursday.
The morning program is at 10 a.m., with an afternoon program at 7 p.m. in the Lakeview Middle School gymnasium. This is about the 10th year the program celebrating and honoring veterans has been held, according to music teacher Dan Beam.
The 10 a.m. program is during a school assembly, but both programs are open to the public.
Beam said among the performances, his choir will sing "The Voice of America" and "On This Day." The band will perform all the songs of the armed forces. All the groups will combine for "God Bless America."
All the students had to write an essay on why they are proud to be an American. The top six were selected and those students will read their essays as part of Thursday's program.
In addition, during the one-hour program, there will be a color guard and a guest speaker.
Each year, Beam said there are about 1,200 to 1,300 members of the public in attendance.
Both programs are free.
