A Lakeview Middle School student was placed under house arrest Thursday and charged with dealing marijuana at the school.
Valerie Lopez, 14, of 305 W. Section St., Claypool, allegedly admitted to selling a plastic bag of marijuana Feb. 12 to another student, Ronald Felton, 13, Silver Lake.
Felton and two other students were arrested last week at the school on charges of dealing and possessing marijuana. Felton allegedly sold his marijuana to Douglas Smith, 14, Warsaw, and Marco Rolon, 13, Winona Lake.
A friend of Lopez reportedly told the school that Valerie sold the plastic bag of marijuana to Felton for $3 at Lopez's locker in the middle school.
The principal at Lakeview informed police Thursday that a student told her Lopez was the one selling marijuana, although Felton had told police it was another male student.
According to what the student told police, Felton allegedly asked Lopez if she brought the "stuff" and Lopez asked if Felton brought the money. They then allegedly exchanged the money for the marijuana.
Lopez allegedly told police that she did sell marijuana to Felton. She was released to her family and informed she was under house arrest, which will remain in place until the probation department completes the necessary paperwork on Lopez.
Information regarding the school's disciplinary action of Lopez was not available.
