I am writing to voice my support for Roberto Micheletti, acting president of Honduras.
I believe Roberto Micheletti has consistently demonstrated that he is a man who is willing to stand up for what is right in the face of relentless opposition and pressure, whether it comes from the supporters of Manuel Zelaya (elected and removed president of honduras), the USA or most of the central and south american country leaders. It baffles my mind how this man who is upholding the constitution of his country is being persuaded, ridiculed and pressured to reinstate the previous president, thereby ignoring the laws of his land for which he was empowered.
For him to stand up to many nations, including my own USA, without even the inkling of receiving any personal gain, in my opinion, demonstrates a man of great strength and character and devotion and loyalty.
This is a man I would want on my team. I believe this world needs more people like Roberto Micheletti. I wish my congressmen and senators and elected leaders would take notice and model. Here is a leader from one of the smaller and poorer countries in the world modeling responsible leadership. When most of the leadership in the countries I mentioned, including mine, have sold their voices to change opinions, votes or other decisions at the waving of a dollar, it is refreshing to see this humble leader Micheletti stand firm, with the determination to do the right thing, no matter what the cost or what the opposition.
I've already written to my president, senator and congressman for them to first be informed as to the facts of Micheletti's "rise to power" in support of his beloved country, and then take positive steps to support Micheletti's actions to bring peace, stability and honor to honduras. Perhaps you can do the same.
