AKRON – Michael Stewart Werner, 89, of Kokomo, died at 3:23 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, at the Waterford Place of Kokomo.
Michael Werner was born Dec. 24, 1935, in St. Charles, Mo., to Orlando M. and Gwendolyne Young Werner. On Dec. 21, 1954, he married JoAnn Boettjer in Peru, Ind.; she preceded him on Jan. 21, 2020. Michael served in the National Guard.
Local survivors are sons, Jeff Werner and Michael Werner and wife Mary, of Akron.
The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Military honors will take place after the service at the funeral performed by the Fulton County Honor Guard. Interment will take place next to his wife in the Saint John’s Lutheran Cemetery of Peru, Ind.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the American Legion of the donor’s choice.
