COLUMBIA CITY — Michael D. Martin, 67, Columbia City, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at his home on Big Lake. 

Born Nov. 15, 1949, in Warsaw, he was the son of Robert D. and Patricia I. Harris Martin.

He graduated from Warsaw High School with the class of 1968 and went on to attend Louisville Institution of Electronics. He returned to Indiana to work at Magnavox/Raytheon for over 30 years as the company changed names and ownership. He also did contract work with USSI in Columbia City. 

Michael married Carol J. Osborn on May 16, 1987. 

He had been a board member for Tri-Lakes Sewer District and Tippecanoe Watershed, along with being active with the Big Lake Association.

His quick wittiness and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol Martin; daughter, Kimberly (Greg) Carlson, Westfield; grandson, Gamble Westfield; sisters: Chris (Mark) Vandewalle, Pierceton, and Janet Best and Debora (Dallas) Morrison, both of Warsaw; brother, James (Rebecca) Martin, Manassas, Va.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  

His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior.
