PIERCETON – Michael A. McClain, 72, of North Manchester, and formerly of Pierceton, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Nov. 7, 2011, in Peabody Retirement Center, North Manchester.
He was born June 13, 1939, in Fort Wayne, to Burl and Geraldine McFarren McClain.
He retired in 1976 after serving his country in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years. He was technical sergeant (E-6) and served as an inventory management supervisor in the 549th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. He was a member of Pierceton American Legion Post 258.
Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Gorden, New Mexico, and Sue Doughty, Germany; a son, John McClain, Fort Wayne; and a longtime friend and guardian, Pauline Wertenberger, Pierceton.
A graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with Chaplain Jerry Hartman officiating, and with military honors by members of Pierceton American Legion Post 258.
No calling is planned.
