MHS Competes In Olympiad

FORT WAYNE - Seven teams of students from area high schools will go for the gold at the 2010 Northeast Indiana Regional Science Olympiad at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne Feb. 6.

The teams of 15 students each will compete in 27 events in the areas of science, engineering and technology, including four new trial events. Some topics for the contest include remote sensing, forensics, disease detectives, health science and sumo-bots.

The tournament will run from 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., with an awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. The events will be in several campus buildings.

The top two teams will advance to state competition March 20 at Indiana University, Bloomington.

High schools with teams registered for the event include two teams from Canterbury, Carroll, Columbia City, East Noble, Manchester and Wayne.Each event competition will be directed and judged by an IPFW faculty member or local expert in each specific field.
