Metzger Resigns As Tippecanoe Valley Girls Basketball Coach

Posted

MENTONE - Mindy Metzger, who was recently hired as the new head coach of Tippecanoe Valley's girls basketball team, has resigned before she even coached a single game at the varsity level.

Metzger cited personal reasons in her resignation letter.

Metzger was the junior varsity coach last season and led the team to a 14-6 record. When Mike Walters resigned as head coach after the season, she was promoted.

"She has tendered a letter of resignation and told me it was for personal reasons," Valley athletic director Duane Burkhart said. "I don't know anything more than that, whether it was job related or what."

Metzger, who graduated from Valley in 1992, was hired at a May 11 board meeting and will officially resign at a board meeting Aug. 10, one day short of three months later.

"We have advertised the job again and are presently seeking (a new coach)," Burkhart said.

Burkhart also said he wants to find someone to take over as soon as possible.

Metzger played college basketball at St. Joseph's and holds several Valley records, including most points scored in a single game, with 44.

Metzger was unavailable for comment.
