Meth Lab Explodes; 3 Hurt

SYRACUSE - Three people suffered burns when a meth lab exploded in a car Monday afternoon.

The Syracuse Police and Fire Departments responded to a vehicle explosion and fire at approximately 1:48 p.m.

Three occupants of the vehicle initially fled the area.

While at the scene, an ambulance was called to 524 Inwood Circle, Syracuse, for two people with burns.

Zeth Begley, 21, and Erika Bruner, 21, both of 504 N. Parkway, Syracuse, were found with burns on their upper bodies, face and hands. Police determined they were two of the occupants of the vehicle. Both were transported to the St. Joe Burn Center in Fort Wayne.

Begley is listed in stable condition and Bruner was treated and released.

A third occupant, Jerry Hall, 33, of Milford, later showed up at Kosciusko Community Hospital with severe burns to his head, face and arms. He was also transported to the St. Joe Burn Center, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is not known at this time.

Main Street in Syracuse was closed for several hours while the scene was processed by the Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team.

Officers also went to the residence of Begley and Bruner where a second meth lab was found.

The investigation into the explosion and the secondary meth lab is ongoing.
