MENTONE - A woman arrested in Mentone Tuesday could be part of a multi-county drug ring, police said.
Carmen Nicole Shambarger, 39, of Hubert, N.C., was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:38 p.m. Tuesday for dealing a schedule I, II, III and IV controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of a Psilocybin hallucinogenic and possession of methamphetamine with a firearm. Her bond was set at $20,000.
Mentone officer Terry Engstrand went to the residence at 507 E. Main St., Mentone, to serve a warrant for check deception on Shambarger.
When Engstrand found Shambarger at the home, he and Mentone Town Marshal Jim Eads found a pistol, about 546 prescription pills, methamphetamine and other drugs.
Upon further investigation, Shambarger's brother, Carson Wise, was found in a motel in Peru and arrested on a Fulton County warrant for resisting law enforcement. He was booked into the Miami County Jail and will be transported to Fulton County.
Officers believe Wise and Shambarger are part of a multi-county drug ring.
