A Winona Lake man was sentenced to three years of work release Thursday for dealing meth and neglecting a child.
Keith J. Vuittonet, 34, of 1202 Wooster Road, lot 69, Winona Lake, appeared Thursday in front of Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Mike Reed and was sentenced to six years in the Indiana Department of Corrections for a Level 4 felony dealing methamphetamine conviction, with three years suspended to Kosciusko County Work Release and three years suspended to formal probation. Vuittonet also was sentenced to three years in the IDOC for a Level 5 felon neglect of a dependent conviction, but all three years were suspended to formal probation.
Vuittonet has accrued 90 days of actual jail time credit and will report to begin his work release confinement at 5 p.m. today. He told the judge he is employed and will report after he gets off work.
The case stems from a 2019 investigation by police and the Department of Child Services after a child in the home told someone drug use was taking place and that adult called police.
Two children in the home were able to describe the drugs and what it looks like when someone is smoking the drug, according to court papers.
A search warrant executed on the home resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia.
Vuittonet admitted to police he was a drug dealer who would get the methamphetamine from his supplier then people would come to his residence to purchase the drugs from him.
After the sentencing, Vuittonet’s attorney, David Kolbe, told his client, “You have the prison keys in your hands.”
