Merdena Bechtol, 96, Denver, Colo., formerly of Kosciusko County, died Nov. 2, 2008, at her assisted living home.
She was born March 18, 1912. On May 10, 1941, she married Dwight Bechtol, who died Oct. 2, 1989.
A Kosciusko County resident for more than 93 years, she was a primary teacher for 42 years, most of the time spent in Burket. She was a long-time resident of Burket and a member of the Burket United Methodist Church. In 2005 she moved to Denver.
Surviving are a daughter, Melissa (and spouse Dennis) Fisher; a grandson; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held today with the Rev. Gene Baron officiating.
