MENTONE - Software to update the town's billing and bookkeeping was approved Monday by the Mentone Town Council.
The cost for the package is $12,659 through Keystone Consulting and the necessary hardware will be purchased at an additional fee from a separate vendor. Prices for the items will be obtained prior to the next meeting.
The new software will allow the town to discontinue the use of such things as claim forms, receipts and ledger books. All of the necessary bookkeeping can be done on the computer and printed on plain paper. The new software is Windows and replaces the town's DOS system for utilities, budget and payroll. The Windows programs are approved by the State Board of Accounts.
Training sessions for the software will be scheduled for the clerk-treasurer after the hardware is in place.
