MENTONE – The camera system on the Mentone Community Emergency Services Building will be repaired and upgraded. During the Mentone Town Council meeting Monday night, Town Marshal Jim Eads reported the camera system on the building needs repairs. He had a guy come in and price the repairs and an upgrade. The fire department also wants to add more cameras to the system, Eads reported. The price quoted to Eads was $4,316, but the fire department may cover half of that. The upgrade has to be taken to the Fire Control Board Saturday for their approval first. If the fire department pays half, the town’s half will be $2,158. Councilwoman Jill Gross made a motion to approve the repairs and upgrade, which was unanimously approved. In another matter, Clerk-Treasurer Barb Ross asked the council if the town wanted to pay its annual due of $350 to the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. After Councilwoman Shelly Krueger asked what the benefits were, Ross said originally they were told health insurance would be cheaper, “but I don’t know that they are.” Gross made a motion to not join the Chamber this year and see what they lose. The motion was approved. Finally, Council President Tim Croy welcomed Bourbon Street Pizza as a new business in town. He said they’re up and running and the food was good. The business is on Main Street right next to the Emergency Services Building. “They have a six-miles radius for delivery,” Croy said. The telephone number is 574-353-9300.
