Posted
MENTONE – An exploding air compressor covering was responsible for the death of a Mentone man Friday night.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and emergency personnel were dispatched to the Cargill Nutrena Feed, 106 N. Etna St., Mentone, Friday at approximately 5 p.m. in reference to a 911 call of an injured male, according to information from KCSD Public Information Officer Chad Hill.
Emergency responders arrived and located a male victim, David M. Seitner, 42, Mentone, suffering from severe injury to his face. Seitner was rushed to Kosciusko Community Hospital but succumbed to his injuries, according to Kosciusko County Coroner Michael Wilson.
Hill said initial investigation determined Seitner was working on a truck owned by RVH Trucking. At some point, a covering over a portion of the air compressor system of the truck became dislodged and exploded into Seitner’s face.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Mentone Police Department, Mentone EMS, Mentone Fire Department and Multi-Township E.M.S.
