Mentone Man Dies When Harley Hits Pole On Ind. 19MENTONE - A Mentone man is dead after his motorcycle struck a utility pole along Ind. 19 Friday night.
Todd Peterson, 44, Mentone, was pronounced dead at the scene in the area of CR 600S.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department Deputy Travis Shively was patrolling Ind. 19 south of Mentone Friday when he drove up on Peterson lying in the roadway.The county's fatal crash team reconstructed the scene and advised that Peterson's 2005 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail was southbound on Ind. 19 and left the west side of the road for an unknown reason.
Peterson's motorcycle struck a utility pole, which caused him to be thrown onto Ind. 19.
Police reported that Peterson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, with blood and toxicology results pending.
Mentone EMS, police and fire departments and Warsaw Police Department assisted at the scene.
