Mentone Discusses Town Clean Up

MENTONE – Mentone Town Council Monday reviewed what is accepted for trash pickup.
Spring cleanup is May 18 in the town.
Jill Gross, council president, said items accepted include brush and tree limbs, water-based paint or cans, empty cardboard boxes, stoves, washers, dryers and furniture.
Nothing with nails or screws will be picked up.
Tim Croy, council member, said the town does not pick up concrete or bricks.
Croy also reminded residents during the meeting they are required to get permits to build fences, sheds, swimming pools and decks.
The council approved a $3,350 contract with Midwest Sheet and Metal, Rochester, for heating for the pole building in the town.
An ordinance regarding water service was approved. It states the town owns the water service line from the main to the external shut-off usually located at the homeowner’s property line. It is the duty of the town to provide and maintain water service to the homeowner to the shut-off.
The homeowner owns the portion of the service line between the external shut-off and their house. It is the homeowner’s duty to provide and maintain their service line from the shut-off to their house.
Lou Mediano, town police deputy, was approved to attend training May 16 to 20 in Cloverdale.
