Hazel Schultz, 48, South Caldwell Lake Drive, Claypool, complained of neck, chest and left arm pain. A passenger in Schultz’s car, Daniel Schultz, 27, North CR 500E, Rochester, complained of knee pain. Both were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital.
Sidney R. Ousley, 17, North CR 600E, Rochester, had an obvious right leg injury and was flown to Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne by Samaritan, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department accident report.
The accident occurred at about 2:02 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of South Ind. 19 and West CR 800S.
Schultz said she was southbound, in her gray 2012 Ford Edge, on Ind. 19. As she approached the flashing yellow light at Ind. 19 and West CR 800S, Ousley’s maroon 2005 Chevrolet Impala turned west in front of Schultz’s car. Schultz was unable to avoid colliding with Ousley’s car.
The accident report states Ousley was unable to tell the investigating officer what happened. He also was unable to say where he was going or what he was driving.
Ousley was cited for driving while suspended and failure to yield right of way.
Both vehicles were towed by Crouse Body Shop, and both drivers consented to a legal blood draw, with results pending.
