MENTONE – Mentone Town Council adopted its 2027 budget Wednesday.
The budget totals $913,000. The economic development fund is $137,500. The casino/riverboat fund is $16,000. The rainy day fund is $0. The general fund is $577,700. The public safety local income tax fund is $25,100. The local road and street fund is $22,000. The motor vehicle highway fund is $102,700. The cemetery fund is $12,000. The cumulative capital improvement fund is $5,000. The cumulative capital development fund is $15,000.
In other business, the council was reminded:
• Trick-or-treat hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday with a costume judging contest at Mentone Elementary School at 7:30 p.m.
• A public hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 4 for a request from Brian Romine to annex a property owned by the Brian and Pamela Romine Trust.
The area proposed for annexation is generally east of Ind. 19, west of Tucker Myers & Hackendorn’s addition and north of the residential properties north of West Harrison Street. The annexation area is about 50.1 acres.
