MENTONE - Charges are expected yet this week against two teen-agers suspected of burglarizing the Sands Mini Mart in Mentone early Monday.
Mentone Town Marshal Jim Eads said the two suspects were interviewed Tuesday and a confession was reportedly obtained from a 19-year-old employee. The other suspect, a 17-year-old male, is reportedly a former employee of the store.
Most of the money taken in the burglary was recovered, Eads said.
Police were called to the business at 3:27 a.m. Monday after an employee arrived to open the store and found a door open. The telephone wires at the business were cut, disarming the store's alarm system. There was no sign of forced entry to the business.
Eads said law enforcement officials believed from the onset that the crime was "an inside job" and the investigation started with interviews of employees. During questioning and a polygraph examination, the 19-year-old reportedly confessed his involvement.
