MENTONE – The Mentone Town Council approved a salary ordinance during its council meeting Wednesday.
Water Superintendent Josh Shepherd’s pay will be increased to $50,000 from $46,900. Corbin Hudson, from Mentone’s utility department, will also have his pay increased to $40,000 from $35,000.
Barb Ross, outgoing town clerk, will continue to get her hourly pay while training the new clerk. There is no timeframe for the training.
“However long it takes,” Ross said. “It could take a month or it could take a year.”
The hours of trick-or-treating have also been changed. Hours on Oct. 31 will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with costume judging to start at 7 p.m. at Mentone Elementary School.
In other business, Town Marshal Jim Eads asked the council for permission for him to start looking for bids for a new truck. They gave him the go-ahead. Eads said he was looking for something similar to the truck he has.
