Memories Of Hull House

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

The corner of Market and Buffalo streets once housed one of the finest men’s stores in northeast Indiana. The quality merchandise in this store would rival anything you can find in Plymouth, Goshen or Fort Wayne.

The store was always a pleasure to be in. It was clean, bright and well-stocked with the highest quality of mensware. I can remember the warm feeling of purchasing a sport jacket, a high-quality suit and dress shirts, topped off with a stylish tie.

The sales people were always helpful, but most of all I remember John Kleeman, the owner. You always felt good when you left the store, knowing you had a friend in the men’s clothing business.

I was saddened recently to read in the Times-Union of Mr. Kleeman’s passing. But he and his fine store, Hull House, will live long in my memory.
