Oh, my dear, VernieGert. Well, at last you are home with your dear John and Vance, beloved friends and other family. Now you are in total angst that everyone knows your true age - you have to forgive us, "dear girl".
Will always remember Wilmerdean and the other cast of characters lounging on the back porch or peeping out the windows. Your unending search for the right color of red - fire engine red. How you ever got the Bob Evans color is known only to them, you, and God. Never do I see red (the house, the cars, the truck, the scooter) and black and white (the glasses) stripes/zebras (even the curtains and that sectional in the "sitting room") without thinking of you.
You always had just the right thing for the right time for the right person, including the painting for our wedding present, the wonderful desserts, tea and snacks on a visit, the haircuts for dad, and the perms (oh did that stuff stink!), putting John under the bed on his birthday, the wonderful Valentine's from the many years of the Sunshine Class.
I will always remember those steep, steep stairs, the closets full of bargains from Pioneer Days, the Sunday school classes and WMS, SMM, Dutchtown, VBS conferences, and the creativity for a scary Halloween ghost-telling story including the "eyes" (peeled grapes) and "guts" (wet spaghetti/noodles), the apple bobbing, and all the other neat stuff that one life had impacted many other lives.
