Memorial Day Services Set Across Kosciusko CountyThere will be several Memorial Day events this weekend and Monday in Kosciusko County.

Those events include:

Etna Green

Etna Green Memorial Day services will be at noon Sunday at the East Cemetery in Etna Green. Roll call for veterans will be performed.

Leesburg

Leesburg will have a Memorial Day parade and service at 10:30 a.m. Monday.

There will be a flag-raising ceremony by the Boy Scouts before the parade at Town Hall. The parade will proceed from Town Hall south on Pearl Street, then west on Prairie Street to the Leesburg Cemetery. The memorial service will follow the parade.

All veterans wishing to ride in the parade should be at Town Hall by 10:15 a.m. All other participants should be in place by 10:15 a.m.

In case of rain, the memorial service will be inside the Leesburg Lions Building at 10:30 a.m.

Mentone

There will be a Memorial Day program at Mentone cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday.

There will be a reception following the program at Bell Aircraft Museum, 210 S. Oak St., Mentone.

Milford

There will be a townwide garage sale today through Monday.

The Milford Family Fun Fest is from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday.

A Memorial Day parade will be at 10 a.m. Monday starting in downtown Milford, going to the cemetery.

North Manchester

American Legion Post 286 will hold a Memorial Day service at 10 a.m. Monday at Halderman Park.

North Webster

American Legion Post 253 will have remembrance ceremonies Monday. They will be: 9 a.m., Thorn Cemetery; 9:30 a.m., Salem Cemetery; 10 a.m., Mock Cemetery.

The Post will participate in the 10:45 a.m. town parade, followed by a ceremony at North Webster Cemetery at 11 a.m. and raise the American flag at noon.

Pierceton


American Legion Post 258 will have a parade Monday. Line-up will be at 10:30 a.m. at the fire station. The parade will march to Brower Park.

After a short presentation, there will be a carry-in dinner at the American Legion, which is open to the public.

Silver Lake

The Silver Lake Lion’s Club is having a Memorial service at Lakeview Cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Syracuse

Chautauqua-Wawasee and Syracuse American Legion Post 223 are collaborating to sponsor "Taps Across the Water" on Sunday. The event begins at dusk to honor and mourn military personnel who have died in the performance of their duties while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

They are requesting a moment of silence by all in attendance at 9:08 p.m. At 9:09 p.m., Taps will sound by buglers placed on Lake Wawasee, Syracuse Lake and Papkeechie Lake.  

Participating musicians include members of the community and surrounding areas, including veterans, community bands, high schools, educators and professionals.  

Warsaw

American Legion Post 49 will hold a memorial tribute at 11 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery. Included will be a 21-gun salute.
