Mel Keplinger IV took a challenge and turned it into an opportunity. Like many people in the current economy, Keplinger was working a 9-to-5 job and got laid off. “I was sick of working all day doing something that wasn’t my passion,” said Keplinger. So Keplinger decided to open Mel’s Computer Shop. Keplinger said his shop is full service and that’s he’s able to serve customers throughout Northern Indiana. Keplinger offers to do repairs as well as design and build websites. He’s been open for business for a couple of months now. Keplinger said this venture has been his calling. He’s read about other businesses that have opened because the person was laid off or downsized in a down economy. And he can definitely relate to taking that chance to follow a passion. “I love what I’m doing,” said Keplinger. “I could do this ’til the day I die.” Keplinger said he is available 24/7 and offers phone consultations and estimates at no charge. On his website, Keplinger gives more details about what he does and even has blog entries concerning things like his flat rates and what customers can expect from a typical service call.
