You can find out in 10 days when The Times-Union and WRSW host charity softball games featuring employees of Channel 16, WNDU TV, South Bend, and WBYR-FM, 98.9, to benefit the Beaman Home shelter for battered women.

The games, scheduled for Sept. 27, will begin at 1 p.m., and will feature celebrities from WNDU/CH-16 in South Bend and WBYR 98.9's Silver Bullet All-Stars from Fort Wayne. The games will also benefit the City County Athletic Complex, site of the double-header.

Sponsors are being sought for the event and food will be provided for any sponsors or spectators present at the games.

Sponsors are being asked to make monetary pledges for every run scored by the Times-Union/WRSW team.

Scheduled to appear for WNDU-TV is Trisha Sloma, morning television personality.

The Silver Bullet All-Stars are led by WBYR morning drive personality and Fort Wayne television sportscaster Billy Elvis. Elvis is best known for his morning show with partner Jack Hammer.

The Beaman Home is a shelter for battered and abused women and their minor children. The home, which has been in existence for 12 years, is funded through donations, grants and by monies provided through The United Way.

Anyone wanting to make a pledge should contact Phil Smith, Times-Union circulation manager, at 267-3111.
