WINONA LAKE - Many business and civic leaders throughout the Kosciusko County area are being called on to go "behind bars for good" April 17 at the Boathouse Restaurant for the "Help and Hope" Lock-Up to benefit the local services of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
These notable "jailbirds" will serve one hour of their time behind bars in MDA's mock jail between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to raise money for Jerry's kids.
Kosciusko County business and community leaders will be encouraged to raise their $1,200 bail (the amount required to send two children to MDA summer camp) and to have fun telling everyone they are going behind bars for good! Then, on April 17, they will be "arrested" and taken to the Boathouse Restaurant where they will have their mug shots taken, be placed behind bars and served a little 'jailhouse grub' all while networking and having fun at the "Help and Hope" Kosciusko County Lock-Up!
Any jailbirds that are not able to raise their $1,200 bail prior to being "locked-up" can phone their family, friends and business associates from the Boathouse Restaurant for help raising funds on cell phones courtesy of Centennial Wireless. Everyone that raises their full bail receives a "golden handcuff" wall plaque, an MDA t-shirt, an MDA mug, and a "Get up & Go" package.
Funds from the Kosciusko "Help and Hope" Lock-Up will allow MDA to provide services for clients in the Kosciusko County area by supporting: the local MDA clinic at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne; the purchase and repair of wheelchairs and leg braces; annual summer camp for youngsters with Muscular Dystrophy; support groups and seminars; and MDA's lifesaving mission of research for causes and cures.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to the cure and treatment of 43 neuromuscular diseases.
