Marsha McSherry announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination for the Kosciusko County clerk Thursday.

She said she is running for the position because, "I've been in the office before. I like serving the community and serving people."

Previously, McSherry served two four-year terms as clerk from 1992 to 2000. Before her terms as clerk, she worked in the clerk's office since 1985 as a deputy clerk.

While county clerk, she served as secretary, vice president and president consecutively for the Indiana State Clerk's Association. She served on the ISCA's legislative committee and completed the Kosciusko Leadership Academy 1992-93.

McSherry completed the Indiana Association of Counties continuing education program, which is training for elected officials.

She served as a precinct committeeman since 1985 for Seward Township and currently serves as the vice chairman for the Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee.

In 2000, she was inducted into the Kosciusko County Republican Hall of Fame.

Asked about her goals for the office if elected, McSherry said, "I believe providing prompt and courteous service to the taxpayers is a top priority."

McSherry, 46, is a Tippecanoe Valley High School graduate.

McSherry and her husband Kevin live in the Burket area and are lifetime area residents. They have two children.
