McLaughlin's Pitching Performance Leads Roundup

NORTH MANCHESTER — The only thing that prevented Manchester senior Connor McLaughlin from getting a complete game no-hitter was his team’s offense Wednesday in North Manchester.
Through five innings of play against the visiting Southwood Knights, McLaughlin had not given up a hit and struck out nine, but his offense was clicking so well that he didn’t get to go the extra two innings, as Manchester won 10-0 in five.
“Nice to start out our conference season with a win,” Manchester coach Jack Rupley said. “Connor pitched really well to get the no-no. Our hitting is starting to come around as we are taking a better mental approach to the plate.”
At the plate, McLaughlin went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI,  matching Payton Sorg’s numbers.
Logan Brunn went 3 for 3 with a run and three RBIs and Justin Cripe drove in two runs, going 2 for 3.
The Squires are back in action Saturday for a doubleheader at Triton.
