I have to speak out on the choice of Sarah Palin and McCain's new pipe dream that he is "change." I have finally stopped laughing long enough to write.
Let me say first that McCain is a heroic man who suffered greatly for this country and would literally lay down his life for the USA. What he wouldn't do for his country is go against the status quo and his party. This is a fellow that couldn't get enough support for change (2000 and 2008) because James Dobson and Rush wouldn't hear of it. McCain is not extreme enough. So, he chose a woman with extremely conservative views to prove his loyalty. This is the only chance he had. That is some Maverick you've got there.
As far as Sarah Palin goes, my criticism has nothing to do with her family, her politics, her accomplishments or her lipstick. It is my personal opinion that the first woman to hold national office should not be chosen for the singular fact that she has ovaries. Sexism? You bet! She never would have been picked (with her amount of experience and family emergencies) if she were a man. Don't you think that if women are to be taken seriously, that whoever she is, she should stand up to that test? I think that a candidate's sex, or color or religion should be irrelevant to their ability. The men should be outraged this time.
The sad thing is that many will fall for this dog and pony (and pig) show.
The Republicans may be a lot of things, but change ain't one of 'em.
