In her 50s, Mazie earned her master’s in counseling at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne. Mazie was very active in her church and in the Warsaw community for over 70 years. She was president of three local organizations: Tri Kappa, American Cancer Society and Warsaw Mental Health Association.
Mazie was a voracious reader, typically reading several books each week. She spent time daily working crossword puzzles right up to the time of passing. Mazie loved people and her wisdom and heart of compassion touched many during her seven decades in Warsaw. She supported numerous non-profit organizations across northern Indiana and the world. She had a great sense of humor and spent much of her blessed life laughing. Mazie was tall and known for her beautiful white hair. She enjoyed many close friendships during her lifetime. She was known for her balanced, positive view on life and not being judgmental. Mazie loved and supported local arts and music programs. Her life was marked by prayer, where she faithfully prayed daily for many people.
During Mazie’s 90th year, the mayor of Warsaw, Joseph Thallemer, signed a proclamation declaring July 14 as Mazie Kreicker Day, for her many contributions to the Warsaw community. During Mazie’s 96th year, a birthday celebration and reunion occurred in July at Center Lake Park; over 45 family members and friends, from eight states, attended the festive event.
Mazie will be very missed by her family, friends, church and community. She was a towering woman, ahead of her time in many ways. “Her children arise and call her blessed” (Proverbs 31:28a) … Here is to a “life well lived”.
