Mayor Thallemer Receives Bronze, Silver Awards

INDIANAPOLIS – Mayor Joe Thallemer received Bronze and Silver certificates in Advanced City Leadership during the March Mayors Institute in Indianapolis.
The awards were given by the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns and Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
To earn this status, over the past two years  Thallemer completed six day-and-a-half courses geared toward the continuing education of Indiana’s municipal executives, according to the announcement.
The Mayors Institute is a quarterly series that provides tools for mayors to tackle real problems facing Indiana cities. Participants acquire knowledge from their peers during the Mayors Idea Exchange and gain insight from guest speakers, IU-SPEA faculty and IACT staff on topics such as healthcare reform, revitalization and cost efficiencies.
“The mayors who earn these certificates are dedicated to continuing education and participating in conversations that provide ideas and solutions to challenges that our cities are facing,” said Matt Greller, IACT executive director and CEO, in the announcement.
IACT is a coalition of municipal officials who seek to improve the quality of life in Indiana through effective government, and is a member of the National League of Cities. Founded in 1891, IACT is one of the oldest state municipal organizations in the country, with 470 cities and towns as members.
