Mayer To Run For County Recorder

Posted

On a platform of efficiency, integrity and friendliness, Douglas L. Mayer is running for Kosciusko County recorder against Denise Lance and LaShawn Brumfield.

Mayer said he has a tendency to analyze his work conditions carefully and find any inefficiencies and correct them. He would like to see the recorder's office upgrade and modernize, perhaps implementing use of the internet - "If the government finds it economically feasible to do so," he said.

Some of the changes Mayer would like to see include a speed-up of the overall recorder's office.

"I'd like to see the recorder's office become more efficient by whatever technology we can use." he said.

While he has never worked in the recorder's office, he does not feel that should be held against him. He said two of the county's recorders, Alice Anglin and the late Betty Dust, had no prior experience in the office.

Mayer is a graduate of Grace College and received a double major in Bible and business administration. He is a research lab technologist with Zimmer Inc.

"I am ready to take on a new challenge for my life and to use the skills which I believe God has given me," he said.

Mayer is president of the Kosciusko County Historical Society and has served as secretary and librarian. He has previously held every office in its genealogy section.

"I am looking forward to this opportunity to serve the public," he said.

Mayer, 46, has been married for 26 years to Kristy Mayer, who is completing her second term as Wayne Township Assessor.

They have two sons, David and Daniel, who both live in Fort Wayne.
