May Primary Candidate Filing Begins Wednesday

Candidates will begin filing Wednesday for this year's May 4 primary.

The general election is Nov. 2.

Filing for the primary begins Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and continues until Feb. 19 when filing ends at noon. The last date for candidate withdrawals is at noon Feb. 19.

Candidates can file in the Kosciusko County Justice Building's clerk's office at 121 N. Lake St, Warsaw.

Federal offices on the primary ballot are for U.S. Representative District 3, currently held by Mark Souder, and the US Senate seat held by Evan Bayh.

Statewide offices on the ballot include State Senate District 17, currently held by Gary Dillon; State Rep. District 18, currently held by Dave Wolkins; State Rep. District 22, currently held by Bill Ruppel; and State Rep. District 23, currently held by Bill Friend.

There also will be two seats available on the Syracuse Town Council and township boards and trustees.

In the November general election, positions of state secretary, currently held by Todd Rokita; state treasurer, currently held by Richard Mourdock; state auditor, currently held by Tim Berry; and clerk of the supreme and appellate courts will be on the ballot.

County positions on the primary ballot will include prosecuting attorney, Steve Hearn; county auditor, Marsha McSherry; county recorder, Deborah Wulliman; county sheriff, Rocky Goshert; and county assessor, Laurie Renier.

Bob Conley, county commissioner, Southern district, will have his seat up for re-election. Four county council seats on the ballot will include: Charlene Knispel, District 1; Harold Jones, District 2; Brad Tandy, District 3; and John Kinsey, District 4.

Kosciusko County Circuit Court Judge Rex Reed also will be up for re-election.Seats on the primary ballot include Tippecanoe Valley School Board for District 3, currently held by Mark Wise; District 4, currently held by Bryan Murphy; and District 5, currently held by Rod Eaton,

The Wa-Nee Community School Board seats on the primary ballot include Harrison Township, currently held by Larry Weaver; Locke Township, currently held by Ed Moser; and Union Township, currently held by Cletis Miller.

Whitko Community School Board seats on the primary ballot include District 4, Deborah Collier; and District 5, Pete Mitchell.

On the November school board election ballot, candidates can begin filing July 21, and filing ends at noon Aug. 20.

Open seats on the Triton School Board include: District 1, currently held by Rodney Kreft; District 2, currently held by Debbie Shively; and District 4, currently held by Jerilyn Anders.

Wawasee Community School Board District 1, currently held by Mike Wilson; District 2, currently held by Mary Lou Dixon; and District 3, currently held by Becky Linnemeir, will be on the general ballot.

Seats for Warsaw Community School Board District 1, currently held by Ron Yeiter; District 2, currently held by Delores Hearn; District 5, currently held by Tammy Dalton; and District 7, currently held by Gene England, will all be on the general ballot.
