GOSHEN – Maxine LaVerne Coursey, 91, joined her husband, James Orval Coursey, in eternal rest at 7:32 Dec. 8, 2014. She was born Sept. 8, 1923, in Bloomington, to Lennie and Bruce Stancombe. She achieved much in her lifetime. She held a private pilot license, and as an artist created beautiful copper enamel and silk paintings, as well as water color and mixed media works. She taught at the South Bend Art Center and learned her craft at Ancilla College and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. She was well loved and leaves many friends all over the country, especially Plymouth, where she resided most of her life. May she rest eternally in the peace of the Lord. Surviving are three daughters: Leah DiCenzo (and spouse Dan) Winter Park, Fla.; Mary (and spouse John) Bencsics, Goshen; Lynn Coursey, Kalamazoo, Mich.; her brother, Raymond (and spouse Mary) Stancombe and their four children, all of South Bend; four grandchildren: Ian, Austin and Teagan Bencsics and Alyssa Sheean; and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Tiernan Bencsics. The family is his holding a private gathering to honor her life.
