NORTH WEBSTER – Maxine Helen Harreld, 96, of Leesburg, died at 5:20 p.m. May 2, 2012, in her residence.

She was born Jan. 17, 1916, in Marion, to Russell and Myrtle  Hamaker Kessler. On Jan. 16, 1937, in Marion, she married Robert Sterling Harreld, who died Feb. 3, 2004.

She graduated from Marion High School in 1933. She was former  owner and operator of Harreld’s Golfland, Marion, and Indian Hills Golf Course, Leesburg, and formerly worked at Hill’s Department Store and Foster Forbes, Marion. She lived in Marion until 1974 when she moved to Leesburg.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, Leesburg; Lake Tippecanoe Property Owners Association where she received the Distinguished Lake Citizen’s Award in 2000; and was a founding member and past president of the Tippecanoe Women’s Association. She was formerly affiliated with Morris Chapel United Methodist Church and Highland Avenue United Methodist Church, both of Marion.

Surviving are a daughter, Vickie (and spouse Terry)   Bynum, Duluth, Minn.; three sons: Robert “Bob” (and spouse Renee) Harreld, Leesburg; Donald (and spouse Mary) Harreld, Albion; and Jack (and spouse Sharon) Harreld, Munford, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by  a sister and two brothers.

Services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with the Rev. William Lytle officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at Gardens of Memory, Marion.
