AKRON – Maxine A. Swygart, 99, Warsaw and formerly of Akron and Laketon, passed away at 6 p.m. Sept. 7, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born Aug. 2, 1916, in Wabash, to Henry and Eliza Rippe Frankstine. On July 17, 1938, in Wabash, she married Robert James Swygart, who preceded her in death May 7, 1995.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mathews Church of Wabash in the earlier years. She was a member of the Jolly Janes Club of Laketon.
Survivors are: a daughter, Marilyn (and spouse Charles) Miller, Akron; six grandchildren: Sherri (and spouse Jeff) Johnson, Warsaw; Dr. Scott (and spouse Kelly) Miller, New Palestine; Brent (and spouse Jill) Swygart, Boston, Mass.; Dr. Mandy (and spouse Pat) Swygart-Hobaugh, Decatur, Ga.; Tonya Clark, Fort Wayne; and Matt (and spouse Karen) Swygart, Battlecreek, Mich.; 10 grandchildren: Erin Tucker, Alyssa Moore, Carli Kaiser, Lauren and Kara Miller, Ashley and Austin Crager, Carson Clark, and Ava and Colette Swygart; a step great-grandson, Joshua Johnson ;and a great-great-grandson, Maclain Tucker. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Steven and Ronald E. Swygart; six brothers: Walter, Charles, Clarence, Melvin, Robert and Loren; and two sisters, Esther and Betty.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with the Rev. David Eaton officiating. Burial is in Laketon Cemetery.
Calling is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
