Max Workman, 87, Syracuse, passed away at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.

He was born Sept. 15, 1930, in Benton Township, Elkhart County, to Chester and Ruby Elenor Moats Workman.

A lifetime Syracuse resident, he was a graduate of Syracuse High School. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1953 as private 1st class during the Korean conflict.

He formerly operated a bulk fuel truck for Standard Oil Company but had a passion for farming, operating 80 acres. In particular, he was very proud of his family.

Survivors include a daughter, Rita (spouse Mike) Lewis, Warsaw; a son, Tony (partner Dave Kardok) Workman, Harper’s Ferry, W.Va.; grandchildren: Michael (spouse Sarah) Lewis, Fishers; Elizabeth (companion Anthony Clark) Lewis, Indianapolis; and Carey (spouse Alli) Lewis, Warsaw; and three great-grandsons.

Private family services will be conducted.

McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is entrusted with arrangements.
