Max Robert Faulkner

BOURBON – Max Robert Faulkner, 83, of rural Bourbon, passed away peacefully July 4, 2012, in his residence.

He was born May 2, 1929, in Bourbon, to John and Sylvia Woodcock Faulkner. On June 2, 1949, he married Phyllis Ann Neidig, who died Dec. 25, 2009.

He retired in 1990 from R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Warsaw, as a building maintenance supervisor. He was a lifelong resident of Bourbon and a 1947 graduate of Bourbon High School.

He was a very faithful member of United Pentecostal Church of Bourbon, where he was the organist for more than 73 years. For many years he also was a Sunday school teacher, teaching senior adult classes, Sunday school superintendent, trustee and did some of the maintenance work around the church.

He was very active with the Experimental Aircraft Association, Popular Rotor Craft Association, Gideon’s International and a member of the R.R. Donnelley Retirees Club. He had many hobbies that included flying airplanes, especially taking people rides in his Breezy airplane, building and restoring airplanes, building houses and helping with Habitat for Humanity. He also made numerous trips to Mission Builders at Tupelo, Miss., and to the Boys Ranch, Metairie, La.

Surviving are six children: Teresa Ann (and spouse Mokhles) Sedra, Cairo, Egypt; Eric Robert (and spouse  Pamela) Faulkner; Nathan Max Faulkner and Seth David (and spouse Kathi) Faulkner, all of Bourbon; Kirby Todd Faulkner, Evansville; and Christopher Faulkner, Atwood; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Maxine Faulkner; a granddaughter,  Carissa J. Faulkner-Bruner; a sister, Evelyn Singrey; and a brother, Carl Faulkner.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at United Pentecostal Church, 201 N. Bourbon St., Bourbon, officiated by Pastors Mark Cottrill, Eric Faulkner and Mokhles Sedra. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.

Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Deaton Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, is in charge of arrangements.
